This charming tale of PEACE, LOVE, AND MURDER has more twists and turns than a corkscrew. It begins with cabbie Bo Forrester; Bo knows he's going to be in for a wild ride when he's pulled over for speeding on the first fare of the day and one of his passengers makes a run for it. Not only that, the police soon discover a dead body in the trunk of his cab. To make matters worse, it's not just any police officer making the arrest, either, but feisty Deputy Trudy Hauser. While she has her own crazy appeal, she's equally determined to prove that Bo is the murderer, even once she is no longer officially on the case.

Author Nancy Holzner has created an engaging cast of characters in PEACE, LOVE, AND MURDER. From the employees at the taxi garage to Bo's neighbor to the recreated college town of Rhodes and its inhabitants, Holzner has envisioned a community that most readers would enjoy living in and exploring. A little quirky, a little sinister, a little too familiar (Bo can't avoid running into a former high school classmate, now banker, at the grocery store, for example). Rhodes is a small town with a big heart, even when it's the setting for murder.

So too are Bo and his nemesis, Trudy Hauser, (possessors of big hearts) as each seeks to solve the mystery of the dead man in his or her own way. Author Holzner never lets her readers lose sight of the humanity of these characters, along with the challenges each faces. For Trudy, it's gaining acceptance as a female in her line of work; for Bo, it's finding his parents, the reason he returned to Rhodes after a stint in the Army (the opposite of what they wanted for him, as commune-loving hippies).

As the story progresses, and the bodies begin piling up, it becomes apparent that the death of the arts administrator found in the cab is much more complicated than what initially seemed to be the case. There are plenty of sinister types in PEACE, LOVE, AND MURDER, and clues to the case appear in the most unlikely of spots. Readers will enjoy following the sleuthing of cabbie Bo Forrester, even as he tries to avoid his own capture near the story's end.

Holzner has created an engaging mystery, with lovable characters, and a plot that keeps on going, without making any of the mistakes that often befall storylines with so many twists and turns. Most of all, she has created a community that readers will be sad to leave and will look forward to returning to once again.
