Just in time for the summer bridal season, Krista Davis follows up her first book with a cozy about the wedding from hell in THE DIVA TAKES THE CAKE. Sophie's multiply-married sister is once again heading down the aisle - or will be if she can keep her mind on the same idea for more than five minutes. Tempted by ex-husbands and tempestuous over her discovery that her groom was married before, Hannah's wedding is on and off more often than a malfunctioning neon sign. Whenever it is on, Sophie's nemesis, the Martha Stewart knockoff Natasha, is busily redoing Hannah's themes and trying to take over, being as snide as possible about all of the work Sophie has been slaving over to do the family proud.

When it's off, Sophie is happiest of all, and not because Natasha's annoying her. No one in the family likes the groom except for Hannah, and Sophie is convinced that a previous failed marriage isn't the only major secret Craig is hiding. But not even Sophie wanted to go so far as to derail the ceremony by finding Craig's ex hanged in the pergola in Natasha's back yard!

Mistaken identities, half truths, buried secrets, missing jewelry, wedding jitters and family squabbles are whipped into a sweet froth in this second of the Domestic Diva mysteries. The mystery itself isn't particularly deep, but this is a standard cozy, more interested in the clash of personalities than an exercise in logic, making this a fun little bonbon of a book to enjoy on the beach or as a break from any wedding plans the reader may be involved in. As with the first book there are a variety of included recipes, although only one is truly wedding oriented. The others, especially Beer Bottom Chicken, are more aimed at the boisterous backyard barbeque crowd.
