2051 New York. Eve Dallas, a rookie detective, and Feeney, her adoptive father's friend and Eve's rabbi in the New York Police Department, work a series of four torture murders of young women. All are found, meticulously cleaned, on a clean white sheet, with a sterling silver band on the fourth finger of the left hand, and a number, in hours, minutes and seconds carved on their torsos posthumously.

March 2060. Eve is called by Commander Whitney to come to East River Park, where she finds the body of an attractive brunette, washed with top of the line soaps and shampoos, placed on an expensive white sheet, with a sterling silver band on the fourth finger of her left hand, and 85 hours, 12 minutes, 38 seconds carved into her torso. "The Groom" is back.

They find that the woman. Sarafina York, worked for Dallas' wealthy husband, Roarke, as manager in one of his clubs. Nine years earlier, "The Groom" murdered four women in 15 days, taking the next before the first died, so that he would have another victim waiting for him to start on at his leisure.

There is another woman missing – another brunette who also works for Roarke. This time, Dallas is the primary, but she brings Feeney into her team, as well as Roarke who can get information faster than the police can. This time "The Groom" won't get away.

This is the 27th book in the Dallas/Roarke series. If you are looking for hard science fiction mystery, don't bother reading it. If you enjoy well-written romantic suspense with well-drawn characters, even if they verge on the stereotypical, and a good story to go with them, then do read JD Robb. Nora Roberts has written over 150 novels. Frankly the ones written with the Robb pseudonym are the only ones I read, but I have read them all. You might want to wait for the paperback. $26 is a bit much to spend for a book that can be finished in one day but there are 26 others you can read first.
