Keepers are people who are born with magical powers and who are responsible for plugging the metaphysical leaks of magic from the Otherside that open up into this reality. Diana Hansen gets her first legitimate Summons as a Keeper exactly one minute after she finishes High School. She leaves her parents a note and takes off with her cat, Sam, to save the world.

Diana believes that she is venturing forth on a simple mission to locate a store that is doing illicit trading in magical artifacts. One of her classmates was wearing a bracelet that very obviously came from the Otherside. Once Diana finds the store, at a Mall in Kingston, she realizes that the magical bracelet was not even the tip of the iceberg.

The crime goes far beyond illicit trade. Someone is trying to align this world with the Otherside by aligning the Mall with something that is very like the Mall there. If the alignment is completed it will create a huge bridge and Hell will literally break forth in our reality. Already teenagers have disappeared from the Mall in this world into the Mall in that world. Diana knows that this is more than she can handle by herself and she enlists the help of her sister Claire.

This is a fun series, and the relationship between the sisters is very well written. There is a lot of humor in every page and part of it comes from quips; but most of it is the harder type to write, the type that comes from the relationships between the characters. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy with a lot of humor.

I hope that the series branches out a little. Diana and Claire have different strengths and different weaknesses; and their weaknesses make interesting books. I enjoyed the first two books so much that I wanted a little more interaction between Claire, Dean and Austin. I would also enjoy books (separate books) with Diana and Kris. Diana has, in the past, been the most fun when everything is spiralling out of her control because she is not accustomed to her powers. It would be interesting to see her, over the course of several books, grow out of that.

LONG HOT SUMMONING is the third installment of the Keeper's Chronicles series. Book one was SUMMON THE KEEPER and book two was THE SECOND SUMMONING
