FLYNN'S WORLD once again takes the reader to Francis Flynn's world. Flynn is an international spy using the Boston police department as his cover. His partner, Sergeant Richard T. Whelan, or Grover as Flynn affectionately calls him, is attempting get him fired. After all Flynn has had his appendix removed twice and his mother has died five times. Before Flynn can deal with the adult world, he must first remove a nail from the ear of Billy Capriano, a wrestler who is also dating his daughter. Once that crisis has been adverted and his job no longer at risk, he is asked to protect Louis Loveson. Loveson is a professor at Harvard University. Loveson is also a philosopher. Someone seems to dislike his ideas because he has been receiving threatening letters and attempts on his life. Loveson thinks that is all a joke and does not want Flynn's protection. Luckily, Grover feels an affinity to the Professor and vows to protect him regardless of the Professor's desires. Flynn must use his offbeat world view to protect Loveson as well as determine who nailed Capriano to a tree.

Francis Flynn is an amusing and enjoyable character. He seems carefree even though he has admitted that he has died three times. In many ways, Flynn seems unreal. Although the book take place in the present time, the book could just as easily have occurred in any time after the invention of the car; the book does not reference any event that would force the book into any single time-period. In addition, Flynn does not let the world he lives in bother him. Rather than question his daughter sneaking off to the cemetery to be with Capriano, he is more concerned with the history and explanation behind Capriano's ear being nailed to the tree.

If in search of a thoroughly enjoyable book, then look no further. FLYNN'S WORLD will satisfy just about any reader's cravings and will always provide a good time.
