Max and her six siblings who are genetically engineered to fly, were rescued from the laboratory by Frannie and Kit.They are living safely in Colorado in the Rocky Mountains when they are menaced by mad scientist, Dr. Ethan Kane, whose experiments threaten the future of human existence. They flee their homes to find the only safe haven they know, the Lake House, a waterfront cabin where they will find Frannie and Kit.Their flight is fraught with dangers against which they must fight for their lives. In the hopes to reach safety they must stay one step ahead of the evil monster who threatens them. This is the sequel to WHEN THE WIND BLOWS in which the children were rescued. The characters of the genetically engineered children are developed in depth, making them interesting and human.The plot is full of twists and turns with the suspense held at an ever constant pace. The author's writing style is that of short chapters. Each contains a single action which leads the reader swiftly to the next.The incidents in the laboratory at Liberty General Hospital which Dr. Kane oversees are chilling as well as thought provoking. How far will science and experimentation proceed and what borders will be crossed?
