Marta Richter is one of the best defense attorneys in the country today. She is relentless with her clients, has no time for games, and does everything she can to get them off. She has a high success rate and has gained the respect of her peers. All that will change in one day.

In ROUGH JUSTICE, she is in Philadelphia defending real estate mogul Elliot Steere. He is not well-liked in the city for numerous reasons and he is under arrest for allegedly killing a homeless man who was trying to steal his car. Steere claims that it was self defense and Martha believes him. Why should she have a guilty client? As the jury is ready to begin their deliberations, Steere let it slip that what he actually committed was a cold-hearted murder. He had a motive for killing the individual and thanks to Steere’s vigorous defense; he is going to get away with it.

Marta is shocked and feeling like a dupe. She has less than twenty-four hours to set things right before Elliot is acquitted. She has to find a way to expose him without losing her ethics or her law license. Her client is aware of what her plans might be and he puts his back up plan into action. He needs her to be there when he is proclaimed an innocent man and he cannot afford to lose her now. He can take care of that later.

Out of all the Lisa Scottoline novels out there, ROUGH JUSTICE is one of the best out there today. There is a lot of action, suspense, and lots of things all in a less than twenty-four hour span. Did we forget to mention that Marta Richter hired Rosato & Associates as local counsel? Mary DiNunzio, Judy Carrier, and Benny Rosato are involved in the story making it more appealing toward fans of this all-women Philadelphia firm. The author takes quite a bit of poetic license in writing the story putting the lawyers in situations no one would like to get mixed up with. But, who cares? This is meant to be a fun book that milks all its entertainment value and adds quite a lot more. Good girls win, bad guys lose. What more could you want. This novel is recommended for anyone looking for a good time and enjoys a good thriller once in a while. You will find it all here.
