Think about this question for a moment. Could you kill someone? If you were pushed to the edge could you actually end another personıs life?

Maybe youıre a slave in Haiti and youıre just sick and tired of the way youıre treated and your husband abuses you as badly as the family that owns you. If a way towards freedom was shown to you, but the first step on the way was over the dead bodies of your victims, would you take it?

Perhaps youıre in a bad marriage and all your husband wants to do is sit by the television and blame you when he canıt find the remote control.

Maybe the killer of your spouse is still living their life, while youıre alone and miserable. Would you be able to kill someone to exact revenge or to put forward what you think is real justice?

Would murder be the answer if your personal trainer pushed you a little too far?

BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS is a book of 19 short stories that are edited by mystery writer, Lawrence Block. Each story is the tale of a person on the edge who discovers that murder might very well be an option as a solution to a problem. The characters in these stories arenıt the killers that we read about most of the time. They arenıt gangsters belonging to the mob, they arenıt malicious people looking for a way to advance their selfish plans. On the whole, theyıre the average person with the same problems that all of us have. Itıs just theyıve solved these problems by doing something that most people might never really consider.

Lawrence Block wrote the hysterical introduction to this book and it gets the reader in the right frame of mind for the stories that follow. Every story is a gem in its own way and I liked them all. The only real problem I have with BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS is that a story by Lawrence Block isnıt included.

Iıve always liked short stories because they give me a taste of authors that I havenıt read. Many times I end up reading a novel by one of the short story writers and the same goes for this book. I was introduced some different authors that I will be sure to read at a later date.

BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS is filled with some interesting characters and their actions always surprise you. By the end of the book, you can even understand why some chose to be murders.

I definitely recommend this book as a great read, but remember, murder is still against the law. Itıs only a good option when written by the talented writers in this book!
