The continuing adventures of Han Solo and Princess Leia are only part of the story told in this audio book about the newly formed Galactic Alliance, a world government risen from the ashes of the now dead New Republic. The Yuuzhan Vong have overwhelmed the Republic, but the Galactic Alliance is determined to subdue these vicious warriors. Luke Skywalker, along with wife Mara and Jacen Solo, travel in search of the planet Zonama Sekot, a place where the Yuuzhan Vong were defeated years before. Their mission is to discover the secret to success in battle against the Yuuzhan Vong. Unfortunately, the trio must seek the help of the Imperial Remnant just as the Empire is facing what may be its own death at the hands of the Yuuzhan Vong. Meanwhile, Han, Leia, and assorted Jedi friends investigate a breakdown in communications among old New Republic members. Battles ensue, and a small group of Yuuzhan Vong are wiped out by the victorious Jedi force. While all this is going on, Nom Anor infiltrates a group on Yuuzhantar, and Tahiri, previously a victim of Yuuzhan Vong experiments, fights to prove her worth to the suspicious Jag Fel. The number of characters and overlapping story lines in REMNANT made for confusion for this listener. One would be wise to read the previous New Jedi Order books before listening to this audio as much of the action depends on events occurring in earlier stories. Davis continues to be a strong reader who injects emotion into the dialogue of the characters. Recommended for those who enjoy the New Jedi Order series.
