Carrie Carlin isn't happy with the location of the International Association of Biofeedback Practitioners' annual convention. Prior to her divorce, Carrie had vacationed at Snowridge Ski Resort with her family. Reliving past experiences proves stressful to the biofeedback therapist, but the presence of keynote speaker Hubert Freundlich is enough to keep her at the conference. Freundlich's use of magnets combined with EEG Neurofeedback appears to be breakthrough therapy in the treatment of chronic pain. Nevertheless, Freundlich has his share of detractors. Dr. Flo Zimmer of Doctors Against Holistic Medicine is his biggest critic. Zimmer plans to destroy Freundlich's reputation by proving his therapy is just a farce.

Zimmer is not the only one challenging Freundlich. Charlie Anders, Freundlich's former top assistant, is at the conference, too. He's hinting that he knows something about the man and his research that Freundlich would rather not have revealed. When Anders turns up murdered at the foot of a ski lift, Carrie's curiosity leads her to question her fellow conventioneers. Could Joe Golden, a psychologist who had a fist fight with Anders, be the killer? Is Kate Donovan, Ander's replacement on Freundlich's staff, as innocent as she claims? What about Paul Scarborough, Freundlich's mouthpiece with the media, or Flo Zimmer, whose crusade to de-throne Freundlich may have included his coworkers. Or could it be someone who even Ms. Carlin doesn't suspect of wrongdoing. Only the ending will tell, and the ending is a good one!

There are suspects a-plenty in this fifth book by biofeedback practitioner Nancy Tesler. Readers will enjoy the author's vivid descriptions of Vermont with its snowy slopes and attractive ski lodges. They should also be pleased with the logical conclusion to the story, one that relies on the most basic of motives to explain the killing of Charlie Anders, and the growth of the main character from guilt-ridden mom to take-charge ex-wife. Tesler's fan base should grow with this latest in the Carrie Carlin series.
