A brutal slaying of a female college student prompts Detective Leah Harris to the scene of the crime. Routine investigation was proceeding when a policeman's photograph was found in the dead girl's apartment. Harris knew this was not going to be a routine murder; the picture was of someone she knew so very well. Was this policeman named Darby associated with this crime ? The possibilities were unlimited.

Sergeant Frank Milkovich (from Internal Affairs) became involved when there was evidence that one of the men in blue may be implicated. Frank found money and drugs in his search. He repulsively knows that he is about to uncover something big. As if this isn't enough to do full-time, he continues conferring about a lesbian harassment case that may be transpiring in the department.

In the meantime, Leah contacts wealthy banker, Enrique Herrera. He is the uncle of the slain girl and may be more involved than he wants to admit. Intensive off-record conversation from the pathologist pointed to the fact that this murder was definitely premeditated.

Who are the "good guys" and who are the "bad guys"? When the reader starts to come to a solution, brazen loss occurs. This is a hard-hitting story that displays good versus evil, where action and suspense abound. I could not put it down. If you are ready for this type of story, do put this title on your TBR list. I really did like the relationship between Leah and Frank.

The next installment, SILENT PROOF, is due in August 2003.
