Jessie Arnold's cabin in Alaska has been reduced to ashes; all she has is her lead husky, Tank. She is at loose ends. So when a friend asks her to drive his Winebago from Idaho to Alaska she instantly agrees.

Her route is the scenic Alaska highway. En route she picks up Patrick Butler, a runaway teenager from Cody, Wyoming. She agrees to help him reach a friend in Fairbanks, Alaska. She doesn't realize that he is pursued by his step father, Mack MacMurdock who has killed Patrick's mother. Also tryng to find him are Detectives William Webster ( RCMP) and Daniel Looms(Cody homicide) Patrick is suspected of several murders. This leads to terror for Jessie and several terrifying chases in the Winnebago.

This is a fast moving, well-plotted story with many diverse characters: an adventurous widow, a tough truck driver, an elderly neighbor, all drawn true to life.

The action is swift, at times terrifying while absorbing the reader. . There are enough twists and turns to keep the reader guessing.

In addition to the excellent adventure the reader is treated to descriptions of the country along the Highway....glaciers, lakes, hot springs and is given history background of many of the locales visited.
