Madison Mandelbaum cannot wait for the end of the week. By then she will be Mrs. Colin Darcy, the wife of an up-and-coming television news journalist. Things just couldn't be better. Maddie has a great job in a museum, Colin's television network loves him, and Maddie's mother isn't upset that Colin isn't a full Jew. The fact that Colin's mother is Jewish is good enough for her.

Six days before the big event Maddie is about to meet Colin for lunch to talk about their wedding vows. Just before she leaves she gets an anonymous email telling her that Colin is not who she thinks he is. The message is the last thing Maddie needs right now so she decides to ignore it. But when she gets to the restaurant she receives another message from this person warning her about Colin and Maddie realizes that she can't ignore the messages. Things have to be straightened out before the wedding.

The last person Maddie wants to talk to about the situation is her mother so she turns to her two best friends, book editor, Abby Toobin and Assistant District Attorney, Katrina Fitzsimmons. Maddie, Abby, and Kat start to investigate and discovered something that makes Maddie's heart turn cold.

It appears that Colin was involved with a murdered prostitute. In fact, the evidence that the three have dug up seems to prove that Colin was the murderer. And to make things worse, the murder happened while Maddie and Colin were living together.

When Maddie asks Colin about the dead woman he tells her that the woman was part of a news piece he was working on and nothing more. But Maddie discovers that there was a lot more to it.

As the chapters count down the hours until their huge wedding is due to take place, Maddie starts to fear that she might be marrying a murderer. Yet her heart tells her that Colin is the man for her so she, Abby, and Kat work together to prove that Colin is innocent. But they are now not doing it just for Maddie's peace of mind but because the police are starting to suspect Colin too.

THE BRIDE WILL KEEP HER NAME by Jan Goldstein is pure chick-lit. Not being a fan of this genre I was rather surprised that I enjoyed the book so much. Another surprise is that Jan Goldstein is a male who seems to know the genre very well. He has written a fun, light, easy, fast reading book.

Maddie and her friends are wonderful characters and fun to be around. I also enjoyed Maddie's family. The characters have all the traits of a loving, Jewish family, both the good and the bad. Jan Goldstein, captures the characters perfectly.

The reader is taken on a fast paced journey through New York City as Maddie tries to prove Colin's innocence. Following the chick-lit formula, I knew how the novel was going to end but the fun was finding out how. This is a well written book that everyone will enjoy reading on a hot summer's day.

Whatever you feel about chick-lit, pick up THE BRIDE WILL KEEP HER NAME. You won't be sorry.
