Jordan Dane weaves an ambitious story where several characters, mostly strangers to each other, are going their own way in order to reach the same objective. They want to expose an organized and large-scale criminal enterprise known as Global Harvest that uses the Internet for nefarious purposes. Their operatives visit chat rooms, message boards, and other web sites looking for candidates for their operation. They then befriend vulnerable people, especially teenage girls, by pretending to be whoever their victims need them to be in order to lure them to come to them. Once they arrive, they become their prisoners and victims in an ultimate act of evil. Global Harvest is clever secret organization that has no regard for human life and knows how to manipulate people into doing their bidding. Their success is founded on the anonymity that the Internet affords them. It is their hubris that will be their downfall.

EVIL WITHOUT A FACE is suspenseful and action-filled especially during the first two-thirds of the book. The author introduces strong, yet vulnerable, characters who have something at stake, including bounty hunter Jessica Beckett, who has a personal vendetta against a child abuser linked to Global Harvest. It all starts with the niece of a former football player who runs away from home in Alaska to meet up with a friend she met online. That was a big mistake.

There is a lot happening in the book as Jessica, a policewoman, and the girl's uncle work together to try to find her. They are also aided by a mysterious woman who knows more about Global Harvest than they do, but sees the possibilities in assisting them in finding the young teen.

As much as the book provides an adrenaline rush, it is not without its problems. Basically, the author wants to put too much in too little space. Even though the good guys (or shall I say gals?) win in the end, there appears to be more to the story than the conclusion provides as if there is a sequel in the works. I wouldn't mind seeing the characters in action again, but I'm not sure if the Global Harvest storyline will continue. Guess I'll just have to wait and see.
