Pucci Lewis is back to ferrying fighter planes around the country, a job she loves, after doing some counter-espionage work in Detroit. Her nemesis Cardillac is still out there, but Lewis won't waste much time worrying about her. She's too busy flying.

Lewis's boss is Jackie Cochran, head of the Women Air Force Service Pilots, and Mrs C has a lot on her plate. She's fighting the perception that women can't fly as well as men, the reality that women are taking some jobs away from returning pilots, and the unwillingness of top brass to give her women a chance. When one of her pilots is seriously injured while flying for a movie short, Mrs C sends Lewis to Hollywood. She wants Pucci to change the direction the movie short is taking in terms of how WASPs are depicted, and she wants Pucci to find out who helped put Frankie Beall in a coma after her plane crashed. Was the plane inadvertently shot down or were even more sinister things going on?

While in Hollywood, Pucci gets to see lots of famous people and meet one or two. Roman Novarro is the director of the short Pucci is going to be flying in. Bela Lugosi's "niece" is working at the house where Pucci is staying. She makes some friends and learns a lot about how the film industry really works. And eventually she figures out who the bad guys are.

Liesche takes the reader into parts of the World War II experience that we rarely encounter. Pucci Lewis is a character that many women can identify with, no matter how removed from the actual situation we may be. Her combination of star-struck naiveté and innate good sense play well in HOLLYWOOD BUZZ. Liesche has done a skilful blending of fact and fiction here, giving the reader a story with suspense, plot twists, and heart. Where will Pucci go from here?
