Mark Rohr is a former marine and has had a string of slightly shady jobs. Now he is in Thailand where he has just lost his job as a bouncer. Robin Antonucci approaches him with a job offer. She needs his help locating her missing brother, Shawn. Shawn was believed to have been killed when the recent tsunami hit Thailand but now a year later his image appears in videotape. Mark has nothing better to do so he agrees to help her.

They are joined in their search by Shawn's wife, Pim. Pim is something of a surprise as she is currently working as a prostitute and Robin was not aware of her brother's marriage. Pim believes Shawn to be alive and thinks she knows where to find him. Or rather she tells Mark that she knows where he is.

Pim plans on using Mark and Robin as her ticket out of Jarin's clutches. Jarin is the largest gangster in Thailand. He has his fingers in numerous criminal activities and has a score to settle with Shawn. By taking Pim with them on their search, Mark has guaranteed they will be followed and attacked.

Unfortunately Mark quickly discovers that no one is who they seem and that everyone has their secrets. These secrets have the potential of being deadly if Mark does not stay on his guard. He must discover the true motives behind his traveling companions and behind Shawn's disappearance if he plans to leave Thailand alive.

NOBLE LIES is pretty standard action adventure fare. Nothing about this book stands out: the plot is somewhat stereotypical, the characters are not well-developed, and action is more important than depth or detail. Admittedly this book does provide a glimpse at some of the dangers that exist in a vacation paradise for the native population, although this hint does not make the book stand out.
