Hannah Swensen has a great job. She owns the very popular Cookie Jar bakery in Eden, Minnesota and she has been asked to help judge the baking contest with two other women during the Tri-County Fair. Life is great and if she could only be left alone long enough to a buy a fried candy bar her life would be perfect but with her sisters always around, and her mom making remarks about her weight, and the two men who want to marry her showing up out of nowhere, Hannah just can't bring herself to buy the sweet treat she dreams about.

The fun of the fair soon turns sour when one of Hannah's fellow judge's, home economics teacher Willa Sunquist, is found murdered on the fair's grounds. Hannah is the one who finds her.

Why would anyone want to kill quiet Willa? Hannah is determined to find out, even though both of her boyfriends want her to stay away from the investigation. But Hannah never listened to them before and she has no intention of listening to them now, even though her life will be endangered. But, with the help of her two sisters, Hannah is determined to find out who killed Willa and why.

This is the eighth installment of the Hannah Swenson series by Joanne Fluke and it's a goodie. The book is filled with friendly, small town residents who all love to eat Hannah's cookies. Who wouldn't? The book is overflowing with cookie recipes and talk about food. Each character has his or her own favorite cookie and the reader gets to learn all about their preferred sweet treat.

Hannah has a heart of gold and gives cookies to everyone. It's a wonder how she stays in business, but the town loves Hannah. They all know that the Cookie Jar is the best place to go when you need to hear some gossip.

As for the murder of Willa, it definitely takes a back seat to all the food talk. The book is mostly about cookies and cakes with the murder thrown in as a side dish. After all, Hannah does want to know who killed her friend but with two boyfriends that are always around, two sisters that need her attention, a mother to avoid whenever possible, and her pet cat who is acting strangely by just staring out the window, she doesn't have extra time to investigate. And of course there is the Cookie Jar to attend to, not to mention finding time to sneak in a fried candy bar when no one is watching.

KEY LIME PIE MURDER is a charming cozy. It doesn't matter that the murder isn't the first thing on everyone's minds. All that matters is that the killer eventually gets their just desserts.

Pick up this book for a good afternoon's read. It's adorable. Oh, but make sure you have the ingredients to make cookies in your cupboard. There are so many recipes in the book and so much talk about sweet treats, you will be overwhelmed with the urge to do some baking of your own.
