Holly Krauss seemingly has it all -- she is beautiful, witty and highly intelligent, she runs a successful consulting business with Meg, her best friend, and has a husband she loves. Holly can't seem to slow down; she hardly sleeps at night, she believes that things will fall apart without her input and she even tries to tell her husband, Charlie, how to run his business affairs.

When her manic moods are upon her, the consequences are enormous -- sex with a stranger, impulse purchases she can't afford and losing huge sums at gambling. She is estranged from her mother and still mourns her father who died when she was a teen. Holly is in trouble and is on the path to destruction.

Holly also attracts the wrong kind of people, such as Rees, who is stalking her and calling Charlie and her friends to tell them things about Holly she'd rather no one knew. Stuart, a former client, seems intent on leading Holly into bad situations and Deborah, a former employer whom Holly had fired is threatening to sue. Could things get any worse?

Things do ultimately get worse and Holly realizes the power of friendship. Written from two points of view -- first Holly's and then Meg's, CATCH ME WHEN I FALL is the story of one woman's headlong fall into mental illness.

The authors are noted for psychological suspense novels and this is surely one of their best. This is a book you cannot put down -- how many times have you heard that? This time it is true. Readers will read this in one sitting; the characters are so well drawn and compelling you will think that you know them. I kept mentally chastising Holly; I wanted to save her myself. This is a fast-paced book with no holds barred.

The author's name is a pseudonym of the two British journalists who write the novels -- Nicci Gerrard and Sean French.
