Mary Janice Davidson delivers another delightful bonbon with UNDEAD AND UNAPPRECIATED. Betsy Taylor, vapid vamp queen is back for a third round of fanged fluff with her cohorts both human and undead.

Betsy's still having problems dealing with the fallout from her previous adventures. One of the Fiends keeps escaping and following her. The employees of Scratch are doing all they can to ruin both the nightclub and Betsy's regal reputation. And she still can't figure out if she wants to kiss or kill her sexy consort, Sinclair. No, life as a vampire queen isn't all blood and roses.

Her human life starts swirling down the tubes in rapid order as well. Considering how deeply Betsy hates her stepmother, it's not really much of a surprise to discover that The Ant had once given birth to the Devil's own daughter. No, the surprise lies in finding out that the daughter is destined to take over the world, and it's Betsy's job to stop her.

Sick of Sinclair dribbling out these important little details, Betsy decides that it's time for her to read the Book of the Dead for herself. She's convinced that her amazing survival powers will protect her from this prophetic tome that drives people mad -- but will they?

UNDEAD AND UNAPPRECIATED is unabashed mental floss, a silly, sweet, romantic read that splits its time equally between adventure, sexcapades, and designer shoes. Like the previous two books in the series (with which it is so deeply tied that it's not advisable to read the books out of order), this is pure escapism. The Undead series can't be called deep, meaningful, or thought-provoking, I must admit it. But it can be called the beauty of beach reading or the champion of chick lit, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a good laugh and a great twist on the cliches of the vampire genre.
