Anne Seale's FINDING MS WRIGHT came along at just the right time for me. I'd had a run of very depressing noir crime fiction where no one could so much as crack a smile. But Jo Jacuzzo and her beloved RV Dan'l zoomed along to cheer me up.

The book is very much like the previous one in the series -- lightweight, with a borderline unconvincing investigator, but witty, entertaining and a fun read.

After her previous adventure in PACKING MRS PHIPPS, Jo is comfortably off and has treated herself to a swanky new mobile home (note to UK readers -- these appear to be trendier than heading off to Bognor in a caravan!) And she has time on her hands as well, so has no good reason to refuse when her friend Weezie asks her to look for her missing ex-lover Honey Lou Wright.

So Jo and Dan'l set off for Oklahoma and naturally find a cast of oddballs, and not a trace of the AWOL Honey Lou. These weirdos include Honey Lou's mother and her light-fingered grandmother. Incidentally, you may find the mad grandma gag old already if you're a Janet Evanovich fan.

And here's the slight snag . . . you may find Jo's reasons to investigate are stretched beyond the point of being believable. It didn't bother me too much in the first book, although I know others who couldn't read on because of it.

But it's a problem in FINDING MS WRIGHT when you just can't understand why she doesn't tell Honey Lou's fairly ghastly family to push off and do their own dirty work --particularly when she has several get-out points big enough to drive a pantechnicon through, never mind a RV! I couldn't quite buy why should she bother with these ungrateful people when she and Dan'l could be seeing the sights well away from Tornado Alley or looking for her own Ms Wright.

If you can ignore this, though, and are in the mood for a book which will make you laugh out loud at several points, and where you probably won't spot the killer ahead of time, you'll do fine with FINDING MS WRIGHT.
