MURDER IN CHEESMAN PARK opens with a bang, as a dead body is found in the area of Cheesman Park. It turns out to be a lawyer who was running a pyramid operation for a fictitious insurance company. But the death results in the investigation of a large drug cartel operating out of Mexico that also fronts a pyramid scheme around the world. Thrown into this mix is Greg Forman, a private investigator studying for the bar in Colorado.

The police originally arrest Greg for the murder, but with his partner Richard Smith, a full-time lawyer, he is able to prove his innocence. Then his ex-wife is arrested. It seems she was seen threatening the victim right before his death, because she found him cheating on her. So, Richard is hired to defend her. In doing so, he asks Greg to investigate the dealings involved with this lawyer.

The book takes a left turn here, as the murder investigation is pushed aside, while Greg uncovers a pyramid scheme involving the Mexican drug cartel, a huge multinational smuggling operation, and hidden assets found in the Cayman Islands. Time shifts all over the place as this investigation goes deeper.

Through it, the reader learns Greg has served in the Special Ops unit as a sniper, he worked with the intelligence community on various operations and his father and stepmother worked for the government uncovering huge fraud cases and prosecuting them. The characters become almost superhuman with no faults but lots of various abilities.

Through all this, the trial keeps getting put on hold, until finally, the government operation is finished. The trial then becomes anti-climatic. The book is fast-paced in sections, then slows down with lots of back story. The ending is somewhat predictable.
