A serial killer is terrorizing Seattle. The story begins as the third victim is killed. All of the victims are made-up with lipstick, rouge and false eyelashes. The fifth intended victim was alive when she was found, and living through a six-hour surgery was a remarkable feat.

Jane Doe does not know who she is and amnesia has plagued her for awhile. There are only certain memories that she has. She remembers her husband's name is Charlie and they have a son. She also remembers a tragedy with a child.

It is discovered that the woman's name is Claire. She has a second husband and a son, Brian. Some of the people that knew her before the assault tell her Brian has run away. It seems he had problems and had been in trouble before. A lot of things are fuzzy to Claire but sometimes when she hears some explanations by her husband or close friends, they just don't make sense and gut instinct tells her there isn't complete truth in what they say. Somehow, the answers just do not fit.

In the hospital, there are security issues that bother Claire's husband. He wants to get her out of there so he can ensure her safety. A woman who nurses Claire demonstrates exemplary care and genuine friendship. I liked her! Sherita is a realistic, gutsy character and a wonderful nurse -- definitely my favorite character in the story.

Secrets that are dangerously hidden plague Claire. Little by little, her memory begins to return. She has too many questions left unanswered. Claire cannot find out about her son and she cannot remember what exactly happened during her attack.

Tim Sullivan is not only easy on the eyes but an expert at his job in law enforcement. Tim shows a unique insight. He not only gives Claire some renewed hope, but he also begins to relook at all the victims trying to find a common thread. He isn't always liked by some of the characters and when his partner becomes ill, he knows he better watch his back.

This twisting story identifies the serial killer and makes a riveting spine-tingling tale. It aims to go one step more; when you think you know what is happening, you may very well be surprised.
