Late last year, antiques dealer Molly Doyle first made her appearance in DEALING IN MURDER, nominated for Agatha and Gumshoe awards for Best First Novel, and Anthony and Barry awards for Best Paperback Original.

Molly, once an important New York dealer, was running from her husband and his lover who had been forging paintings. When Molly found out about it, she changed her name and ran for the other coast, where she took over a dilapidated shop owned by an old family friend.

Molly is back in TAGGED FOR MURDER. Trudy Collins, a fellow dealer is found dead in her booth at the Carmel Antiques Show. The dead dealer had befriended Molly when she moved to Carmel, and often sold her great merchandise at bargain prices. Carmel's police chief Kenneth Randall and the DA for Monterey County, Dan Lucero, are attending the show and get there quickly, but not before Molly has determined that Trudy is dead, having fallen into a group of Sevres porcelain figurines. Next to Trudy on the desk is a group of strange homemade tags with a photo and a red slash on each,

Max, who owns the shop Molly manages, also owns the house in which Trudy lived. He asks Molly to go over and make sure the house is ready for the exterminators who are supposed to come in a couple of days to spray for termites. Molly gets permission to remove the boxes of stock from the living quarters, but she and Daria are too depressed to do more than take a quick look around. Molly does stay to look at the boxes of stock left around the house and determine that there was too much valuable merch lying around to leave to the movers.

Just as she is finishing her sales reports late that night, she hears a loud knocking at her door. It turns out to be her sister, who she hasn't seen in 15 years, with a 12-year-old girl, Molly's niece Emma. Carrie leaves Emma with Molly and disappears again.

As with DEALING IN MURDER, TAGGED FOR MURDER mixes a great story, believable characters, and hints about antiques and the antiques business. It is even more engrossing than the first book in the series. Emma is a great addition to the cast of characters, and Molly's battle to keep honest continues.
