Average Linda Leigh falls in love with Geoff. He is a college professor and movie-star handsome; Linda thinks she has won the lottery. Geoff's seven-year-old son, Josh, has not warmed to Linda. He believes his mother will return and tries to protect his father from the intruder, Linda. Josh tries to put her into the outsider status.

Gabrielle is Josh's mother; she left the family four years ago. There was cheating and lying on her part, but Josh is not aware of this. He is only aware that he is sure his mother will return again. Beautiful Gabrielle is memorialized by Josh and by Julia, the housekeeper, who keeps her memory alive in the household.

A horrific dream with fire consumption is a nightmare that plagues Linda. Another nightmare begins when Gabrielle returns. Wanting to see her son and rekindle the mother/son bond is Gabrielle's claim. Recurrent fire scenes come to Linda and eerie connections from Gabrielle threaten Linda's thinking and well-being. Everything and everyone that Gabrielle touches appear to be altered.

Visions and paranoia grip Linda. I wanted her to evacuate the situation. It appears that something too powerfully strong is keeping her there. It is more than her love for Geoff.

This story draws you in and keeps you on the edge of your seat. When a real fire manifests itself, Linda is more than shaken. So many mysteries and so many questions! How much power exists between the spirit world and the present physical world is visited in this story. Geoff teeters between thinking Gabrielle is beautiful and captivating on one hand and yet proposing to Linda on the other hand. I wanted to give Geoff a spine! I became irritated and restless with the two central characters of Linda and Geoff. Then the storyline drew me back as Linda begins to find out some answers to this bizarre puzzle.

For paranormal fans, this story may be your next read.
