Dirk Pitt has entertained readers for over two decades ever since his debut in PACIFIC VORTEX. A special projects director for the National Underwater and Marine Association, Dirk Pitt has shared lots of adventures with his best friend, Al Giordino. Together they have raised the Titanic; found a civil war barge in the middle of the Sahara; encountered numerous treasures; and stopped ruthless madmen (and women) from fulfilling schemes to take over the world. Now all good things may be coming to an end.

Clive Cussler has expressed his interest in retiring from writing novels in order to spend time working with the real-life NUMA that he founded long ago. It is time to say goodbye, but not before one more adventure.

A large industrial company by the name of Odyssey is involved with a super-secret project in Nicaragua. No one has been able to find out why or what they may be planning. No one has been able to learn the identity of Odyssey's founder -- an individual who goes by the name of Specter, hiding its identity by wearing gloves, dark glasses, a turban, and a scarf. There is something weird -- a go -- appearing in the oceans and NUMA is investigating. With Dirk Pitt and Al Giordino you can be sure you will be in for a ride and they are asking readers to join them.

Scott Brick reads the unabridged audio recording of this novel. He brings a sense of fun and excitement to this work as he describes how Pitt and Giordino save the world time and time again with situations which would cause the ordinary person to be shot or killed. Heck, why not? They know how to have fun; it is their aching joints that they could do without. All their friends inside and out of NUMA will play an important role in the story including two new important people in Pitt's life first introduced in VALHALLA RISING.

The adventure is over-the-top and a whole lot of fun; a great escape from the rat race. There is a promise of a possible future for these characters. If not, Cussler makes life changes on all of the major characters letting the readers know that even if you do not see these characters again, they are going to be OK.

Thank you for the stories, Mr. Cussler. They were all worth it and greatly appreciated. You will be missed.
