On June 10 1997, 30-year-old engineer Carla Ann Larson disappeared during her lunch break at a local supermarket. She was a happily married woman with an infant daughter and a good job involving the construction of a luxury hotel near Walt Disney World. What makes the case so unusual was the nature of the disappearance and the history she shares with her in-laws.

Samuel Roen relates how Carla took extreme care of herself regarding crime. She was overly protective and always aware of her surroundings. She learned how to be this way since an infamous serial killer in Florida targeting college coeds murdered her sister-in-law. This caused the family to be more streetwise and Carla was included. When the young engineeršs body was discovered, their worst fears were realized. Carla was killed by a complete stranger. Her only crime was being at the wrong place at the wrong time. No matter how much one prepares, violence can come to anyone at anyplace anytime.

EVIDENCE OF MURDER relates how the Orange County Police Department tracked down John Huggins after a fortuitous tip from a viewer of AMERICAšS MOST WANTED. The perpetratoršs history is exposed giving his violent criminal history and the events leading to June 10, 1997. The author focuses on the story as seen through the eyes of the two lead investigators, Detectives Cameron Weir and John Linnert. The book is a good retelling of the crime and worth your time. It serves as a wake-up call for self-awareness.
