Scott Elliott was well on his way to establishing his career in the movie studio system when that career was interrupted by World War II.

Now in 1947 Elliott is trying to find a place in the Hollywood system, and becomes an operative in a Hollywood security firm whose main job is to protect the studio. The studio plans to film a sequel to a favorite wartime romance, Passage to Lisbon.

The filming of Love Me Again begins, but the screen writer is accused of being a Communist. He is found shot to death with the film script and a blackmail letter in his hand. It becomes Scott's job to save the movie and protect the studio by untangling the web of deceit and find the truth. He discovers secrets that are buried in the past that have lead to murder.

Elliott is a man of integrity fighting against a corrupt film world. The desperation and despair of the post-war period with the McCarthy hearings, the German American Bund, payoffs and corruption is all too clearly depicted. We are presented with a vivid picture of the clothes, the drinks, the cars, and the movies of the times. This is an excellent portrayal of the 1940s.
