Alex Winston owns and runs the West Hatteras Inn in the small town of Elkton Falls. His family has owned the inn and the lighthouse right next to it for years and it is the only place where he truly feels safe.

Mor Pendleton, Alexıs best friend, has finally asked Emma, his long time girlfriend, to marry him. Even though Alex is happy for Mor and Emma their upcoming nuptials makes him think of Elise Danton, the innıs maid. Alex would like to start a relationship with her but it seems as if sheıs hesitant to try to be anything more than a friend to him. But Alex has hope. After lots of convincing, Elise has finally agreed to a date and it is planned to happen soon.

This is an important time for the small town. After twenty years a new mayor will be voted in and the two candidates have a scheduled debate outside the West Hatteras Inn. Afterwards, things turn very bad when Emmaıs ex husband is found dead in Morıs truck. There are no visible signs that he was murdered, but the sheriff starts the investigation by bringing in Mor and Emma to the police station for questioning.

Since Alex has been helpful in finding the murders of other people, Mor asks Alex to help by looking for the person who killed Emmaıs ex. Alex unhappily agrees. All he wants to be is an innkeeper, not a detective.

Things get very complicated right away; one of the mayoral candidates is found murdered; out of the blue Emma confesses to killing her ex husband; and miles away, Hurricane Zelda is building up steam, heading for Elkton Falls.

ROOM FOR MURDER by Tim Myers is a typical cozy. The story is set in a small town where everyone knows each other. The characters are interesting enough and itıs nice to see them continue with their lives from book to book. The main plot has to do with the murder of a stranger and a mayoral candidate, which puts the spotlight on some of the seriesı main characters, but the bulk of the story has to do with Alex, the inn, his guests, his floundering relationship with Elise, and the other inhabitants of the small town of Elkton Falls.

I canıt say that this is the best cozy Iıve ever read but it isnıt the worst. It was easy to figure out who the murderer was but lovers of a good old fashioned cozy keep reading a series to spend some time with the likable people they find within the pages.

ROOM FOR MURDER is the fourth in the Lighthouse Inn Mystery series. Itıs a nice enough book to read one weekend. There arenıt any surprises, you donıt learn anything new about crime investigations, and there isnıt much of a murder mystery but the people who live in Elkton Falls are nice to visit.
