Lenny Holcomb, once a top news reporter , is now buried as the obituary writer at the Harrisburg ( PA) Herald.

He has unexplained experiences when he is typing the obituaries. At tmes there is an inclusion of words in the obits as though the dead person was communicating with him. The hint at events unrevealed in that person's life.

Such occurred when he is typing the obituary of Herb Bucher, Republican Governor Lowell Winter's chief fund raiser. Bucher collapsed and died at a fund rising dinner. In his obituary there come hints of Bucher's embezzling from campaign donations.

Lenny independently investigates this allegation, discovering the truth of the matter. He brings the story to his editor, and is put in charge of it to the dismay of Abe Braxton whose beat is covering the governor's office.

Then Christy Denza, the Governor's press secretary is found floating in the Susquehanna River, a day after she had been dismissed. Her death is ruled a suicide. But her "words" in her obituary convince Lenny otherwise.

With the help of fellow reporter, sexy Jacqueline Towers, Lenny embarks on a trail which uncovers sexual misconducts and corruption in the highest office. His revelations threaten the governor's bid for the presidential nomination of his patty.

In spite of being discredited by clever politicians, Lenny continues in his quest for the truth behind Christy's brother's attempt to hold the Three Mile Island nuclear facility as a hostage to force the governor o confirm the truth about Christy's death.

In his pursuit he has acquired a dangerous enemy whose identity is a complete surprise.

This is a powerful story about one man's search for the truth and another's ruthless struggle for power.

The plot is well constructed; the writing style realistic and smooth. The characters are well-developed with their human flaws and weaknesses. The atmosphere of the newsroom is portrayed realistically with its pressures and its inner politics. The story is fast moving, and suspenseful with the true perpetrator in doubt until the end. Let's read more of Lenny Holcomb and his revealing obituaries.
