Can you imagine waking up from a confused slumber only to realize that you are a kidnap victim? You have suffered a blow to the head and must fight to regain memory of who you are. You have no memory at all of the days just prior to your abduction or of the abduction itself. This is the horror that Abbie Devereaux has awakened to. The story that follows is her storage of courage and determination that allows her to keep her sanity and fight for her freedom. Thinking that regaining her freedom would end the nightmare Abbie must face the disbelieving police and people she thought were her dearest friends. In order to save face and possibly her life Abbie becomes determined to trace out her last days before the abduction and try to discover who her capture is on her own. Abbie knows that he is still out there and wants her back. Nicci French weaves a powerful tale of horror and suspense. The reader feels Abbie's fear and roots for her as she regains her freedom and then slowly unravels the mystery of her past.
