This is indeed a sequel to WHEN THE WIND BLOWS that was written in 1998. In the previous book six children are rescued from a genetic lab where they have been engineered to be able to fly. They have been horribly treated and have imprinted on the wonderful couple that rescues them.

The couple is Frannie, a small animal veterinarian and Kit a FBI agent. After being rescued the flying children have been placed with their biological parents in hopes of giving them a normal life. The children are unhappy apart and wish to be with Frannie and Kit as a family.

The children's past soon comes back to haunt them when it becomes apparent that everyone connected with the former experiments are not in jail and someone is out to capture or kill all of them. Can the children get back to Frannie and Kit and be safe from this ongoing evil?

In LAKE HOUSE, the children are growing up and becoming more independent. They are very smart and do not hesitate to speak their minds. Max, the oldest child, has become a young woman and is facing all the confusion that comes with this.

I am a huge James Patterson fan. WHEN THE WIND BLOWS was not one of my favorite books but LAKE HOUSE made up for it. Once again James Patterson pens a hit. I love the short chapters but they always keep me up past my bedtime. I am always saying just one more chapter and keep turning the pages on his wonderful thrillers.
