Twenty-five year old Julie Barenson's husband has died. When she receives a delivery at Christmas time, imagine her surprise to find her deceased husband had planned ahead. It was a good surprise!

Julie chose to remain in the community where she and her former husband had their brief happy married life together. As a beautician, she meets many people who help her by offering their support. She also forces herself to be with the public, which aids her grieving process. When Julie begins dating again, she encounters some strange and uncomfortable experiences. Finally she meets Richard. She can identify with his sense of loss because she too has had extreme losses both as a child and as an adult. Richard is aware that Julie's long time friend, Mike, does not like or trust him. She wants to avoid hurting Mike because Julie always knew that their friendship relationship is special. In fact, Mike had been the best man at Julie's wedding so they had a strong longtime bond.

What follows is the story of three people's relationship. Julie will know both ends of the emotional scale. She will experience extreme happiness but will also know a terrifying fear. This is a thriller filled with suspense that will not allow you to put down the book. Without giving you more information and spoiling it for you, I will say that you will not be disappointed. This will show Nicholas Sparks with a new dimension, not only the relationship/love stories for which he is so well known, but also the element of conflict. As a bonus, there is a dog in the story that caught my eye and heart.

Enjoy the experience!
