Ross Marteau is a famous sculptor who works out of a studio in Paris. His specialty is his commissioned nude sculptures of the wives and mistresses of rich people. The artist spends a lot of time with each model, studying every single body part for him to work to perfection. He spends weeks sketching until he has that perfect pose to create the perfect statue. He is surrounded by beauty and is always looking for something new. All his beliefs will be challenged within the next few months.

Ross has left Paris after his latest girlfriend stabbed him just as he was ready to dump her. He goes back to San Rafael, Texas to relax and work on his latest commission. And enigmatic and beautiful woman named Celeste approaches him one day when he is sitting on his restaurant table. She has a proposition for him and wants to take a few minutes of his time. Her much younger sister, against her own advice, wants Ross to create a sculpture of her. She gives him a headshot of her sister and agrees to meet with her. The day Celeste brings Leda to the studio he is stunned. Where Celeste is perfect her sister is the complete opposite. Leda challenges him to find beauty in her and he reluctantly agrees. He is not convinced with Ledaís motives but the challenge will interest him. What he is unaware is that he has just begun to play a dangerous game.

If you have read David Lindsey before, you probably know by now that nothing is what it seems. Both of these women have a personal agenda and Ross is too much in lust to see the nose in front of his face. He would need Tennessee Williamsís screen device from The Glass Menagerie to have things spelled out to him. H-E-Y B-U-D-D-Y, Y-O-U A-R-E B-E-I-N-G S-E-T U-P. Not even when he learns the connection they share to his past does he stop.

Animosity has its requisite twists and turns that you would expect from a David Lindsey novel. There is also a surprise ending that at the end will astound no one. In case you are wondering, yes, there is a lot of sensuality in this book like in Mercy. Now if you are looking for that and a better story, try REQUIEM FOR A GLASS HEART. Aside from having an unusual title, it is a good action thriller. The choice is yours.
