Among the last few years, more and more companies are attending seminars to improve their productivity. Some people see this as a landmark way of transforming their lives; others see it as a complete waste of time. Now, what if your life actually depended on it. Larry Brooks, author of the impressive DARKNESS BOUND, returns giving a Bentley-Little twist to self-improvement groups. It will start out that way once the principals get there, what will happen is something completely different.

Mark Johnson, Pamela Wiley, and Brad Teeters are three executives at the top advertising firm of Wright & Wong. No one in the group is happy with the way co-founder Ben Wong is running the company and they want to buy him out. Wong is not surprised by their demands and is willing to sell the company to them. Naturally, there is a catch. All three of them must enroll and graduate from a special corporate seminar paid by Mr. Wong, who claims that it changed his life. The trio is reluctant at first, but agree to the stipulation. Once they are inside, they will get more that they bargained for and the cost of admission will be their lives.

At first,PRESSURE POINTS reads as a satire of corporate America with a main focus in the advertising industry. The author’s experiences in the field enhance a promising story line. The plot then shifts into a philosophical discussion of the nature of man; afterwards it becomes a mystery novel, then a horror novel, ending with a twist inspired by Shakespeare. You think you know what the story is about and who is the protagonist of the book. Guess again. The author puts many twists that will keep you guessing till the end.

The novel is good but at times it reads like a serial novel written by other authors. There are several stories with a beginning and an end before proceeding to the next one. There is something for everyone in this story and it is recommended, however, Darkness Bound is a better book. Let’s see what his next book SERPENT'S DANCE has to bring. Larry Brooks is making a strong impact in mass-market fiction, watch out.
