Christine Pullen, young idealistic journalist graduate from Michigan State University, becomes the communications director for Bob Larkin. She had been fascinated by his voice when he was a news broadcaster. Now he has been appointed Lieutenant Governor of Texas replacing William Glinnis who met an untimely death in the capital dome.

The two are attracted to each other, though Larkin is estranged from a wife who refuses to let him go.

They must plunge into the world of Texas politics in an effort to discover why the lieutenant governor was killed and why his death was covered up.

There is a wealth of characters treated with humor as well as cynicism. The world ofTexas politics is treated with tongue-in-cheek, not to be taken seriously.

The story is superbly plotted with witty dialogue. The action is fast paced with many questions to be answered. The writing style is smooth and readable.
