Murder can Rain on Your Shower is the tenth in the Desiree Shapiro mystery series. Desiree is a middle-aged, not-in-the-best-shape private investigator. As the book opens, she is holding a wedding shower for her niece, Ellen, along with the groom's mother, Allison Lynton. It is a lovely shower, but Desiree hears that several of the attendees have problems with the groom's aunt, Bobbie Jean. When Bobbie Jean collapses and dies while eating her salad, Desiree suspects poison and proves to be right.

The groom-to-be, Mike Lynton, asks Desiree to find the killer. Though Bobbie Jean had managed to hurt a number of people in her life, Mike and his father Wes loved her. Desiree starts the investigation with the women attending the shower who had had problems with Bobbie Jean. First is Lorraine, whose fiance Bobbie Jean stole thirty years ago. Next are Robin and Carla, mother and daughter. Bobbie Jean stole Carla's husband. Finally there is Grace - she and her husband went into the restaurant business with Bobbie Jean and Bobbie Jean accused them of stealing money from the restaurant.

Selma Eichler is a seasoned writer with a pleasant style, worthwhile characters, and an adequate plot. Murder Can Rain on Your Shower is a nice way to spend an afternoon's reading.
