So what does homicide cop Tom McMichael do when he's asked to investigate the murder of 84-year-old Pete Braga by bludgeoning when there's a long history of bloody acrimony between the two families?

It started when Braga shot and killed McMichael's grandfather after a dispute many years earlier, and though it was never proven many people believe that McMichael's own father, in retaliation, beat Braga's beloved son so badly that he will forever be emotionally and intellectually a 10-year-old.

If you can get past the nagging feeling that it's unlikely any police force would let one of their officers go near this case with that family blood feud history behind him, COLD PURSUIT is a page-turner with enough action to entertain and enough twists and turns to keep the reader guessing to the end.

Sally Rainwater, Braga's beautiful nurse, is a just one suspect. She says she stepped out to buy some firewood when Braga was murdered, but her house is loaded with expensive paintings from the elderly man's home which she says were gifts. The divorced McMichael, against his better judgment and the warnings of longtime partner Hector Paz, finds himself drawn to the nurse, putting his career in a compromised position.

But there's no shortage of other suspects, McMichael finds. Braga was on the outs with just about everybody, including members of his family, business associates and even the Catholic ChurchŠ.which apparently stood to lose a large bequest when Braga got around to redrawing his will.

Then there's a smuggling operation which involves Braga's auto dealership and a Mexican firm. Did Braga know about it? Was it a drug operation, or something else, something big enough to cause honest cops to go bad? The answer to that question could hold the key to Braga's murder, but finding the answer proves to be a large and deadly undertaking.

COLD PURSUIT is an action-packed look at good cops and bad cops, family relationships which often aren't what they seem to be, and, above all, it looks at what is called the human conditionŠ.the sometimes thin line between good and evil and at the forces that drive us, sometimes destroying and sometimes healing.
