At the start of the book, there is a legend involving three interconnecting silver statues that represent the three Fates from Greek mythology ñ Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos. It was believed that these works of art were true masterpieces carved from the rock of Mount Olympus. They are considered to be priceless and every art collector would like to get their hands on it.

Throughout the years, the three sculptures have been separated and many have fought long and hard to bring them back together. All hope was lost when one of the pieces was believed to be at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean after the sinking of the Lusitania. People started to forget and started to give the story a legendary connotation. The Sullivan family knows what really happened to Clotho and they are in a race against time in trying to find the sisters and bring them back together. And so it begins, another romantic and adventurous thrill ride from the mind of Nora Roberts.

Malachi, Gideon, and Rebecca Sullivan are descendants of Felix Greenfield, a thief who was aboard the Lusitania on its fateful voyage. Disguised as a member of the shipís crew, he went to a room that he stripped of all its valuables. As an afterthought he took a silver statue that was on the dresser. When the boat began to sink, Felix managed to save himself. In the process he also managed to save the life of a woman and her infant son. This selfless act that he performed was one of the factors of his remorse over his illegal actions. He vowed after that day to change his life for the better. He married an Irish girl who helped heal him and manage to run a successful business still run by his descendants, the Sullivans.

Malachi Sullivan made a big mistake when he went to Morningside Antiques owner, Anita Gaye to have the sculpture appraised. Once she learns what she has in her hands she will do everything to own this precious statue. She manages to seduce Malachi and steal Clotho from under him as well as covering her tracks. Now she is not going to waste any time in trying to track the other statues for which she is willing to lie, murder and steal.

The Sullivans plan a preemptive strike by tracking down the descendants of the other statues owner. They will combine forces with an academician, a stripper, and a security firm owner after a close friend is murdered. All six of these individuals share a common history that Nora Robert manages to combine in a tapestry and make it magical. After several moments of distrust between all of them they all seem to share a similar goal. The author sprinkles a bit of romance and adventure with a caper reminiscent of a Mission: Impossible scheme. The good guys will always win and Anita will get what is coming to her.

If there is one thing that Nora Roberts is well known for is the strong character development. She transforms the lives of six people who would have never met and enhances them in ways they would have never expected in their wildest dreams. Six strangers will become the closest of friends. Three Fates is a great pick-me-up for a very down day. Nora Roberts knows how to give readers what they want and this book is no exception. Try it.
