From the clever title to the end of the book, Roberta Isleib's Six Strokes Under is highly readable. Cassandra Burdette (usually known as Cassie) is a golf fan attending the Q-school to qualify to play in the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) tour. She can only afford to attend the qualifying school once, so the pressure is heavy on her to play well. Before she leaves for Q-school she finds the body of the therapist who is partner to her own. The dead man counseled numerous women who remembered sexual abuse in childhood during therapy. One of his clients is suing her father, a popular coach, for abuse and is also attending the Qualifying School.

Isleib handles her subjects well, like a pro. Recovered memory is a difficult issue and is presented fairly with well-realized characters dealing with the impact on their lives. The author also knows golf. It was daunting to start the book with a four-page glossary, but the glossary is needed for the novice and once into the book the language of golf is handled naturally by Isleib. She also has a nice ear for dialog and uses it to create realistic, memorable characters. Even the non-sports fan will enjoy this book. Recommended.
