Prominent popular plastic surgeon, Ronald Bushnell, is brutally shot to death n his office as are his receptionist and nurse. There is no lack of suspects: a dissatisfied patient,a dismissed nurse, even members of his family, his foster son, Ethan Meissner, Ethan's natural father.

Through their investigations Jessie Drake, L A homicide detective and her partner, Phil Okum, eliminate most of the potential murderers, but find Ethan a very strong suspect.

He is in love with Adrienne, daughter of Bushnell but Bushnell has forbidden their association, citing events in the past.

Jessie and Phil track down leads, many of them false and chase Ethan who was fleeing the area, and finally learn the truth from the past which reveals the killer.

This is a suspense-packed novel with many clues for the reader to study to learn the killer. The action is swift with a horrifying ending.

In addition to the murders the author addresses Jessie's continuing involvement with Judaism and her Judaic teacher,Ezra. There is also the constant friction with her abusive mother and distant father.
