Maddie Day's 9th Country Store Mystery disappoints as it is relatively easy to figure out who provided the poisonous mushrooms used in the Pans 'N Pancakes mushroom omelet special. Unfortunately, one customer dies while others wind up sick at the urgent care center.
Ms. Day writes entertaining cozy mysteries. Her community of comfortable, engaging characters welcomes readers who typically visit each novel. However, in this story, working out the who, followed by the why, reduces suspense and slows the drive to get to the end. In addition, a primary character reveals a significant clue very early in the story, which means offering more details only provides spoilers.
NO GRATER CRIME wraps up with the wedding of Robbie and Abe, surrounded by family, friends, and neighbors.
