Scottish writer Christopher Brookmyre has published 11 novels to date, and has a great line in titles! His latest is ATTACK OF THE UNSINKABLE RUBBER DUCKS.
RTE: Describe yourself in a sentence?
Brookmyre: A wee baldy guy with a birthmark.
RTE: What's the one record you'd take to a desert island?
Brookmyre: The record for long-distance open-sea swimming.
RTE: What did you want to be when you were growing up?
Brookmyre: I always wanted to be a writer. Jammy bastard, huh?
RTE: Who's your oldest friend?
Brookmyre: Roger Dubar. Our mothers were friends, so we were plonked on the same carpets as babies.
RTE: If I ruled the world...
Brookmyre: I’d appoint a deputy who actually knows what he’s doing.
RTE: Which book do you wish you'd written?
Brookmyre: The Baroque Cycle by Neal Stephenson. Okay, that’s three books, but has to be considered as a body of work. For me, the fiction achievement of the twenty-first century to date.
RTE: What makes you angry?
Brookmyre: Religion and other forms of superstition. Grow up, people, it’s just pretend.

Brookmyre: Bill Hicks, Billy Connolly, Robertson Davies, Richard Dawkins, James Randi
RTE: Who would you least like to be stuck in a lift with?
Brookmyre: A dually incontinent claustrophobic.
RTE: What inspired you to start writing?
Brookmyre: I can’t remember. It’s just something I’ve always felt driven to do. See above.
